You’re 8 Steps Away From a More Efficient, Comfier Office
As the coronavirus crisis continues, working from home becomes more and more familiar. And for those who were used to filing into an office every day and taking a regular seat at their desks, working from home is a new venture that has required major adjustments. But making modifications to your work routine doesn’t have to be daunting. At Central Air, we have your back when it comes to finding comfort and functionality while working from home. We’re sharing some ways to make the office-to-home transition more comfortable—for both you and your family!
Successful Tips for 100% Home Office Comfort
OK, so you’ve moved your work materials into your house, but you’re not quite sure where to work. You’ve tried the couch, the dining room table and maybe even your bed. But all these spots are less than ideal. How can you nurture your inner “work-from-home being” and get into the right mindset?
Easy! Try these tricks:
- Be prepared. Your first step is simple! Call Central Air for your annual AC maintenance tune-up or for any of your air conditioning repair needs. A fully functioning system will set the groundwork for comfort all season long and allow you to work efficiently with total peace of mind.
- Find the right spot. This is typically everyone’s greatest challenge. If you don’t have a spare room to use as an office, where do you set up camp? Try an empty corner in your dining room or living area. Corner desks can be purchased from many online outlets and are great space savers. Some even have desk covers that hide your space at night so your home office is out of sight. If you need to squeeze a workspace into your bedroom, place your desk facing a wall or window. This way, your back is to your bed and you’re less tempted to nap!
- Find the right temperature. This is our area of expertise. The right temperature provides comfort and will result in higher productivity. If you have a ductless mini-split system, this is the perfect opportunity to take charge of those zone controls. Keep your home office at the right temp while turning off the zone in rooms you aren’t using. And if you’ve been thinking of switching to a mini-split system, give us a call for a free estimate on these money-saving systems.
- Fine-tune your lighting. Along with working in a temperature that’s comfortable, you’ll want to find the right lighting. Working in conditions that are too dark or too bright can affect your eyes and morale—resulting in reduced productivity. Try a desk lamp or adjust overhead tracking lights until everything feels right.
- Invest in a good chair. You may have taken your laptop and a few desk supplies from your workplace, but we’re pretty sure your chair stayed at the office. Invest in a decent desk chair. After all, you’ll be sitting in it all day!
- Hide it. Do you have a large closet that’s not being used? Slide a desk inside or add a low shelf that you can pull up to in your chair. Bingo! You’ve created instant desk space hidden in your closet. If that’s not an option, you can rig up a curtain to hide your work area.
- Organize your space. Now is not the time to be a Messy Marvin. You have a new work area, so you need to keep it tidy. Organize materials and books so you can concentrate on working efficiently.
- Be creative with storage. If you don’t have a filing cabinet, an old milk crate or wooden crate will work well. Keep your documents in one of these and store them neatly under your desk.
